SBU uncovers corrupt medical officer of National Guard of Ukraine in Kharkiv

In Kharkiv, SBU officers uncovered and detained on receiving a bribe a manager of a medical unit of the National Guard military base.

According to intelligence, the major extorted money from the servicemen who were on active duty in the National Guard of Ukraine. SBU operatives documented that the offender extorted USD 1,500 for preparation and approval of medical report of Military Medical Commission on unfitness for duty due to health problems.

Law enforcement officers detained the official near his workplace on receiving the full sum of bribe.

The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the detainee of taking a bribe and choosing the type of detention is now being settled.

The investigation is ongoing in order to bring to criminal responsibility other servicemen allegedly involved in illegal activities.

Operation was conducted jointly with the investigators of Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Poltava city under the legal supervision of the Military Prosecutor’s Office of Kharkiv Garrison.
