SBU exposed a top official of State Ecological Academy of Postgraduate Education and Management on bribe-taking.

Allegedly, the official set up a scheme of receiving money from commercial entities. For different sums of money, the suspect facilitated carrying out regular audits and exceptional checks by the State Ecological Inspection on paper only.

SBU documented the fact of extortion by the suspect of UAH 70,000 (USD 3,000) from a local businessman.

The law enforcement detained the official in Kyiv after receiving the whole sum of illegal gain.

The issue of serving the detainee a notice of suspicion of taking a bribe by an official (P. 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) is being decided.

The investigation is ongoing to bring to justice all the persons involved in the case.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police investigators under the guidance of the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Darnytsia Garrison.
