The Security Service of Ukraine suspects managers of the branch of the Cherkasytransgas Main Gas Pipelines Branch of JSC “Ukrtransgas” of embezzlement of state funds for overhaul of the critical infrastructure facility.

According to the investigation, the officials of the state-owned enterprise during 2017-2018 signed a number of contracts for the repair works of the construction complex of one of the subdivisions of the branch amounting to UAH 9,000,000 (USD 321,429). Initiated by the SBU examinations showed that during the preparation of estimates officials deliberately inflated the real market value and the volume of work due to lack of relevant expertise. Allegedly, the attackers embezzled over UAH 1,400,000 (USD 50,000) of state funds.

Currently three officials of the state enterprise have been served suspicion notices of committing the crime under Part 5 Art.191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the case and bring to justice all other persons involved in the fraud.

The exposing operation was carried out by the SBU Office in Cherkasy region operatives under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of the region.
