Military Service of Law and Order official, exposed by SBU, is served a notice of suspicion
The Security Service of Ukraine exposed a representative of the Uzhhorod Zonal Unit of the Military Service of Law and Order on systematic bribe-taking.
Allegedly, the official set up a corrupt scheme on extortion money from servicemen. For different sums, he "guaranteed" assistance in enrolling servicemen in the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces.
SBU officers documented the fact that the suspect received UAH 84,000 (USD 3,000) for facilitating the deployment of a Ukrainian serviceman in the UN Peacekeeping Forces in one of the African countries.
Consequently, on March 31 the law enforcement detained the official at his workplace when he received the second part of the bribe on his bank card.
The suspect was served a notice of suspicion within the framework of criminal proceeding under Part 3 Art.368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The form of detention is being decided.
Investigative actions are ongoing to identify and bring to justice other probably involved persons.
The operation was conducted by the SBU Office in Vinnytsia region jointly with the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Khmelnytskyi city under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Vinnytsia region.
