Kyiv region: SBU blocks sale of military munitions smuggled from JFO (video)
The Security Service of Ukraine uncovered and blocked illegal sale of explosives, weapons and ammo in Kyiv region.
Allegedly, two residents of Kyiv city and Vasylkiv town smuggled military munitions from the Joint Forces Operation area for sale. The smugglers hid the goods at their residential places and looked for clients among personal contacts, particularly criminal. SBU officers documented two facts of illicit sale of military munitions.
Law enforcement detained two suspects according to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine when they attempted to sell two TNT blocks with a total weight of 800 g, an AK assault rifle, a rifle-attached grenade launcher, two Makarov guns, five VOG-17 rocket-propelled grenades, over 130 rounds of different caliber, in particular for heavy gun. For the listed arsenal the smugglers expected to gain USD 5,400.
The issue of serving to smugglers notices of suspicion under Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and choosing custody as a type of detention is being decided. The investigation is ongoing.
The operation was conducted jointly with investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv city under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
