SBU CI blocked procurement of low-quality aircraft components to the UkrOboronProm facilities in Kharkiv region.

Allegedly, two residents of Kharkiv city set up a scheme of buying the hoist points and accessories to combat aircrafts. The ordered equipment was stolen from military units of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and other defence facilities and then cosmetically repaired for further sale.

The organizers sold the repaired components under the guise of new ones via the private companies to the facilities of UkrOboronProm, which are engaged in repair and refurbishment of military aircrafts. Furthermore, the components were smuggled abroad.

The law enforcement officers conducted eight authorized searches at the repair premises and at the suspects’ places of residence, consequently they seized military-purposed products and documents proving the illicit activity.

The issue of serving to two organizers of the fraud notices of suspicion of committing the crime under Part 1 Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being decided.

To remind, in mid-January this year SBU uncovered two actual performers of this criminal group, who were ordered to transfer the components to military aircrafts abroad.

The operation was conducted jointly with Counter-intelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Kharkiv region.
