Kyiv region: SBU exposes conscript on selling military weapons and munitions

SBU employees exposed in Kyiv region a grenadier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces artillery brigade on selling military equipment.

SBU documented several facts of selling military equipment and munitions by the conscript.

Several months ago the suspect took two bulletproof vests, two radio sets and 240 rounds of 5,45-mm caliber outside the garrison. The stolen property was sold for UAH 15,000 (USD 555). The suspect was detained at a gas station on his attempt to sell more than 100 rounds, 39 flares and two smoke grenades for over UAH 13,000 (USD 480).

The detainee was served a notice of suspicion of unlawful handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives (P. 1 Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The form of detention is being chosen.

The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted jointly with the investigators of Kyiv region Police Department, under the supervision of Military Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv garrison.
