SBU documented illegal activity of a high-ranking official of the Ukrainian Ministry on illegal transfer of classified documents.

Within a criminal proceeding, law enforcement established that the official, being a civil servant of "A" category, copied and sent a secret document via e-mail to an unidentified person.

This document contains information about measures taken by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service, law enforcement and other state authorities for protection of the national interests in the south and east of Ukraine, in the Black and Azov Seas and in the Kerch Strait.

The official undermined the sovereignty, territorial integrity, defense capability and state security of Ukraine.

On 2 April, 2020, the SBU officers searched offenders’ office and residence, and seized a mobile telephone, a tablet, containing the classified document, and other official documents with the stamp "For official use only".

Urgent investigation is ongoing. 

Operation was conducted under the legal supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
