SBU prevented in Sumy region illicit export of military equipment subject to state export control, as well as illegal crossing the border by a Russian citizen.

Allegedly, two residents of Velykopysarivskyi district tried to smuggle a device for military equipment to Russia. For money, the dealers also promised the Russian citizen their assistance in illegal crossing the border to Russia.

SBU blocked the suspects’ activity during their attempt to illegally cross the border. During the searches, the law enforcement seized military equipment that the dealers aimed to smuggle.

The issue of serving to the detainees notices of suspicion of illegal movement of persons across the state border of Ukraine and violation of procedure of international transfers of goods subject to state export control (Art. 332 and Art. 333 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) is being decided.

The investigation is ongoing to establish and bring to justice all the persons involved into the illegal activity.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Sumy Border detachment under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Sumy region.
