SBU uncovered a corrupt official of Cherkasy district unit of State Executive Service of the Main Territorial Department of Justice in Cherkasy region.

Allegedly, the civil servant of "B" category extorted money from a local resident for closing of the enforcement proceeding.

For 2,000 dollars, the official promised to withdraw the arrest from the property and to lift Ukrainian entry and exit ban.

In Cherkasy city, law enforcement officers detained the official in accordance with Art.208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after receiving the full sum of illegal benefit.

Issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the detainee is being settled within a criminal proceeding initiated for taking a bribe by an official.

The urgent investigative and operative actions are ongoing in order to identify and to bring to justice people possibly involved in illegal activity.

The operation was conducted jointly the National Police under legal supervision of Cherkasy local Prosecutor’s Office.
