Luhansk region: SBU CI blocks “LNR special services” to involve official in anti-Ukrainian activity
The SBU CI blocks an attempt to involve a head of one of the structural unit of regional military-civilian administration into anti-Ukrainian activity in favor of the “MGB LNR” terrorist organization.
SBU operatives documented that representatives of the controlled by Russian special services “MGB” detained the official at “Stanytsia Luhanska” checkpoint, when she tried to get into the temporarily occupied Luhansk due to family affairs. The militants, being aware of her official service, during several hours intimidated her and eventually forced to agree on confidential cooperation. The “special services” were interested in access to actual information about authorities of Luhansk region.
SBU CI established fact of recruiting of the serviceman and is checking the information whether she performed the enemy’s task.
The Security Service of Ukraine urges citizens to be vigilant and emphasizes that anyone can be targeted by Russian terrorist illegal armed formations, while officials and their family members are at particular risk.
SBU again recalls that Art. 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code envisages imprisonment for up to 15 years. However, according to the provisions of Part. 2, Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, citizens of Ukraine are released from criminal liability if they did not commit any acts requested by a foreign state, foreign organization or their representatives and voluntarily reported on links with them and the received task.
