Khmelnytskyi city: SBU blocks group of drug dealers organized by officials of State Emergency Service of Ukraine
The SBU blocked the activity of drug dealers organized by the officials of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) in Kmelnytskyi city.
Allegedly, two commanders of detachments of the SES Main Department in Kmelnytskyi region together with a former colleague organized the large-scale drug trafficking.
In Kmelnytskyi city, they rented an office where the drugs and psychotropic substances were packed and stored for the further sale.
The officials sent the batches of drugs via Ukrainian postal service throughout the country,. They also sold the narcotic drugs to local dealers and drug addicts.
According to intelligence, the offenders sold up to 10 kilos of drug each month.
SBU officers detained both commanders at the rented office during the preparation of the next order, their accomplice – in his residence.
SBU operatives previously documented several sales of cannabis and amphetamine.
During the searches, law enforcement found a batch of drugs and psychotropic substances amounting to UAH 500,000 (USD 18,500) on the “black market”.
The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the offenders is being settled within a criminal proceeding initiated for illegal production, making, purchasing, storage, transportation, sending or sale of narcotics, psychotropic substances or their analogues. A type of detention is being chosen.
Pre-trial investigation is ongoing in order to identify other group members and their customers, as well as the sources and origin of drugs.
The operation was conducted jointly with the investigators of the State Bureau of Investigations, the Department of Combating Drug Crime and the Main National Police Departments in Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi regions under the legal supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
