SBU exposes Ivano-Frankivsk resident on selling information from state databases
SBU exposed an Ivano-Frankivsk resident on selling restricted information from state databases.
SBU Cybersecurity employees noticed advertisements with proposals to buy information from the databases of State Customs Service and State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on specialized Internet platforms.
During the special checks the law enforcement established that a “seller”, using fake accounts, promised to provide the clients with information on crossing Ukrainian border by vehicles, Ukrainian citizens or foreigners, as well as the period of their stay abroad. Such information is considered to be restricted, unauthorized use of such information is punishable by law. The suspect took “fees” from the clients on banking cards.
SBU established, that the anonymous seller was a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk City and documented several facts of selling restricted information by the suspect. The clients were residents of different regions of Ukraine. During the searches of the suspect’s residence, the law enforcement seized mobile phones, SIM-cards, laptop and tablet PC which were used for publishing illegal advertisements, as well as banking cards for taking “fees”.
The materials of criminal proceedings upon the fact of unauthorized distribution of restricted information (P. 2 Art. 361-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) were submitted to court.
The operation was conducted by employees of the SBU Office in Ivano-Frankivsk region jointly with the Cybersecurity Unit of the National Police of Ukraine under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Ivano-Frankivsk City.
