SBU CI officers together with the National Police detained a citizen of one of the countries of the Caspian basin, who was put on the international wanted list.

SBU have found that the 51-year-old foreigner has been hiding in Ukraine since November last year. The attacker travelled through the city only by taxi and changed phone numbers.

The suspect tried to obtain political refugee status in order to be legalized in Ukraine and avoid punishment at home.

Consequently, law enforcement officers established the suspect’s place of residence during investigative and operative actions. A foreigner was detained in Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv city in a rented apartment.

Investigative actions are underway.
