Mykolaiv region: SBU checks the information on professional incompetence of Regional State Administration officials while countering COVID-19 spread
The Security Service of Ukraine checks the information on possible professional incompetence of the officials of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration regarding non-taking urgent actions to ensure primary needs of the region in counteraction of COVID-19 spread.
On March 27, 2020, the extraordinary session of the regional council adopted decision to amend the budget for the purchase of medical equipment and disinfectants. The decision provides for additional funding of UAH 109,000,000 (USD 4,000,000) for health care institutions in the region.
The officials of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, in the extreme conditions of outbreak of the virus and necessity to conduct urgent actions, did not take measures to implement the decision of the regional council. Allegedly, their actions could have caused damage to lives and health of the residents of region because of spread of COVID-19.
SBU investigators initiated criminal proceeding under Part 1 Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
