Odesa region: SBU detains organizers of illegal migration channel
The Security Service of Ukraine uncovers and blocks a channel of illegal migration over the border of Ukraine in Odesa region.
Allegedly, two residents of the region set up a scheme of illegal transfer of Ukrainians and foreigners to a European country and vice versa. They provided the clients with crossing state border beyond the established control points.
Such services cost from USD 500 to 1000 for a “tourist”.
SBU officers detained the organizers under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while the suspects attempted at transferring another illegal migrant.
The issue of serving the suspects notices of suspicion under Part 3 Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and choosing them type of detention is being solved.
The investigative actions for establishing all the circumstances of the crime are ongoing. The information on the involvement of the officials of the State Border Guard Service in the illegal activity is being checked.
The operation was conducted jointly with National Police under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Odesa region.
