Sumy region: SBU blocks group of illegal registrars involved in large-scale land dealing
The Security Service of Ukraine blocked the activities of a group of so-called "black market registrars", who organized a large-scale scheme of providing illegal registration of real property rights in Sumy region.
SBU operatives have documented that a group of residents of Sumy and Chernihiv regions set up an illegal scheme of obtaining from government personal access keys to state registers. For money, the attackers handed over the keys to third parties who illegally conducted the appropriate registration.
Currently, law enforcement officers found 40,000 illegal registries, mostly issued for land plots. Additionally, major agricultural producers were the main "clients" of the dealers. Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art.361 and Part 2 Art.361-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, law enforcement officers seized documents, computer equipment, data storages and other evidences proving illegal activity during authorized searches in several rural councils, at the suspects’ places of work and residence.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The exposing operation was carried out jointly with investigators of the State Police of the National Police in Sumy region under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of Sumy region.
