The SBU Main Directorate of Internal Security exposed and detained two operatives of the Liman Police Department on bribe-taking.

The SBU operatives found that the policemen demanded UAH 20,000 (USD 741) from a local resident for “shielding” them from criminal responsibility for the storage of drugs.

The law enforcement detained a major and a police captain near a district police station in Liman after receiving a part of USD 10,000 illegal gain. The detainees were served a suspicion notice of committing the crime under Part 3 Art.368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Within the framework of the pre-trial investigation, the possible involvement of other law enforcement officers in the illegal activity is being checked.

The operation was carried out jointly with Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Kramatorsk city under the procedural supervision of the Military Prosecutor's Office of Donetsk garrison.
