SBU blocks activity of the organized drug groups in different regions of Ukraine

SBU Offices in Dnipropetrovsk and Vinnytsia regions blocked activities of organized drug groups which illegally manufactured and sold wholesale batches of drugs and psychotropic substances.

Thus, the law enforcement in Kryvyi Rih uncovered a drug group selling methamphetamine and marijuana. Allegedly, the suspects, including previously convicted of serious crimes locals, manufactured drugs and psychotropes at their places of residence. Then they sold the finished product through an extensive network of dealers in the region.

According to preliminary data, the drug dealers gained over UAH 2 million (USD 70,000) per month.

During the searches at suspects’ houses, SBU found fire arms, ready-for-sale meth, marijuana and equipment for production and packing of drugs.

The seized munitions, narcotics and other items are directed for expertize.

Within the initiated criminal proceeding under Part 2 Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the investigative actions are ongoing.

The operation was conducted jointly with National Police under the supervision of the prosecution.

Also, Vinnytsia city Court is sent indictments on a criminal group of drug dealers, who had been detained in Kyiv by the SBU.

Allegedly, three residents of Vinnytsia arrived to Kyiv for arranging inter-regional sales of particularly hazardous drug – methadone. The suspects hid the goods in a rented garage in Kyiv. They sold the drugs through dealers, who equipped so-called caches in Vinnytsia, Odesa and Kyiv regions. The clients sent money on the suspects’ bank accounts.

On October 18, last year, SBU officers detained members of the group when they sold another batch of methadone. During the searches, the law enforcement found almost 800 g methadone, which is estimated to over UAH 1,300,000 (USD 48,000).

Within the criminal proceeding, the suspects are served notices of suspicion under Part 2 Article 306 and Part 3 Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On April 13 this year, the indictments on the organized criminal group are submitted to Vinnytsia city Court.

The operation was conducted jointly with SBU Office in Vinnytsia region under the supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
