The Security Service of Ukraine exposed the head of the border guard unit of Chernivtsi border detachment on receiving illegal gain from a subordinate serviceman.

Operatives of the special service established that the Lieutenant-Colonel demanded USD 1,800,000 for unimpeded subordinate’s active service. For this amount, the attacker also guaranteed not bringing the serviceman to justice for failure of the relevant measures while transferring property confiscated at the border to the fiscal service.

Urgent investigative actions and searches at the offender’s place of military service are underway. Based on the results of investigations, the officer will be served a suspicion notice of committing the crime under Part 3 Art.368 and Part 4 Art.426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issues of choosing preventive measure and removing him from the office are being resolved.

 The operation was carried out jointly with the State Investigations Bureau Territorial Administration in Khmelnytskyi city investigators and the Internal Security Department of the Chernivtsi border detachment officers under legal supervision of the Military Prosecutor's Office.
