SBU documents office abuse of former Head of Ukrainian State Property Fund
The SBU documented office abuse of the former Acting Head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine.
The investigation established that the offender used his official powers in the interest of several commercial entities.
Violating the existing law, he made illegal decisions regarding the use of state-owned enterprise “the State specialized publishing house "Higher School””, which is located in an attractive investment area in the downtown of Kiev.
According to the Law on “the List of Objects of State-Run Property that are not subject to privatization”, the property of this state-owned enterprise is not subject to privatization.
In favor of commercial structures, the former Acting Head of the Fund made illegal decisions that helped businessmen to avoid payment of funds to the state budget for the use of more than 1,700 square meters in Kyiv center.
The commercial entities also asked the State Property Fund to renovate the dwellings, but it was not actually performed to the further illegal privatization of real estate.
At present, the building is in a state of disrepair, the dwellings weren’t renovated, and the information entered to the documents on the performed works is false.
In order to obtain enough evidence, the SBU initiated forensic expertise and economic investigation, resulting in sufficient evidence of official’s involvement in fraud.
The State Bureau of Investigation served a notice of suspicion to the offender for office abuse.
Investigation is ongoing. The operation was conducted jointly with the State Bureau of Investigations under the legal supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv region.
