SBU employees exposed on bribe-taking two Criminal Police officers of Mykolaiv region Police Department.

Allegedly, the police captains extorted UAH 30,000 (USD 1,100) from a local resident for shielding him for drug possession.

The law enforcement detained the policemen in Mykolaiv suburbs on receiving the above mentioned sum of money.

The investigation is ongoing upon the fact of taking a bribe by an official (P. 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The issue of serving the detainees notices of suspicion is being settled.

The law enforcement is establishing whether other officers of the Criminal Police were involved into the illegal activity.

The operation was conducted jointly with the investigators of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Mykolaiv City, under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Mykolaiv region.
