The Security Service of Ukraine exposed damage to the state budget during repair works in Sumy Regional Clinical TB Dispensary.

According to the investigation, in 2019 the Department of Capital Construction of Sumy Regional State Administration concluded an agreement with a local private enterprise for construction and repair works at the Regional TB treatment facility.

The employee of the Department of Management and Engineering is responsible for monitoring the compliance and completeness of work performed by the legislation and estimates.

SBU officers found that private entities significantly overstated the cost and volume of the work performed and over UAH 100,000 (USD 3,704) of budget funds were misappropriated due to improper performance of official duties.

Currently the official has been served a notice of suspicion of committing the crime.

A pre-trial investigation is underway. The legitimacy of construction work at other facilities controlled by a civil servant is being checked.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police under legal supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Sumy region.
