Head of SBU submits additional proposals for ban on Russian websites and programs
The Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov submitted additional proposals to the National Security and Defence Council regarding extension of sanctions against Russian websites and software products. In particular, he proposes to prolong ban not only on Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki, but on Yandex, Mail.ru, Doctor Web, Kaspersky, 1C and Parus as well.
“Today we are not just protecting Ukrainians from fakes and informational attacks from Russian social networks, but we take care about cyber security of business, state and educational institutions etc. Since any Russian mail service or antivirus can be used for harmful purposes for Ukraine. So we need to narrow down the risks. By blocking such websites and programs, we protect the country in the whole,”- Ivan Bakanov claims.
He also suggested to establlish and to maintain the Single in Ukraine Register of software authorized to use in state information and telecommunication systems. The SBU cyber experts state that this step will limit the purchase and use of banned software and will provide supportive environment for Ukrainian IT-business.
As previously reported, on April 10, SBU submitted proposals to extend ban on Russian social networks for another three years.
Since the beginning of the quarantine, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed 207 internet-agitprops, who spread fakes on coronavirus. Ten of them acted on the instructions of Russia’s side.
