SBU in Zakarpattya region documented embezzlement of budget money allocated for construction of a comprehensive school.

Allegedly, officials of the Department for capital construction of the Regional State Administration of Zakarpattya region made a UAH 21,000,000 (USD 780,000) contract with a private company for construction of a comprehensive school. Though, in December 2019, the officials transferred UAH 6,000,000 (USD 220,000) for partially unfinished works. The experts estimate the losses to almost UAH 800,000 (USD 30,000).

During the searches at the officials’ offices and places of residence, the law enforcement seized documents proving the illicit activity. The officers seized documentation on performed works, budget sheets, financial and payment documents, which are evidence to the crime.

The investigative actions resulted in serving a former chief of the Department for capital construction of the Regional State Administration and the director of the contractor company notices of suspicion of the crimes under Part 5 Article 191 and Part 2 Article 28, Part 1 Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Main Directorate of National Police in Zakarpattya region under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Zakarpattya region.
