Zaporizzhya region: SBU prevents illegal alienation of university building for more than UAH 36 million
SBU disclosed a scheme of illegal alienation of public real estate owned by the Ministry of Education and Science in Zaporizzhya region.
Reportedly, the state registrar of the regional municipal enterprise illegally reissued a non-residential building of one of the higher educational institutions with the area of more than 6000 square meters to a representative of the commercial structure. The ownership of the facility was re-registered on the basis of forged documents. Moreover, she entered misleading information into the national real estate register.
The cost of the building estimated to more than UAH 36,000,000 (USD 1,333,334).
SBU officers established that the Ministry of Justice had cancelled the illegal re-registration of the facility and restored the ownership of the Ministry of Education and Science.
During searches at the offender’s workplace and house, law enforcement officers seized documents proving illegal activities.
In the framework of criminal proceedings, the state registrar has been accused of abusing her authority to provide public services (Part 3 Art.365-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the case and bring to justice other persons involved in the fraud.
