Military CI exposes new attempts of Russian special services to recruit Ukrainians

SBU Military CI exposed new aggressive attempts of Russian special services to recruit Ukrainians and incline them to harmful activity for security of the state.

SBU officers documented fact of detention of the State Border Guard Service junior sergeant by representatives of Russian FSB at administrative border with temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. Afterwards, the Russians, using violence and tortures, tried to force the Ukrainian to confess to the allegedly deliberate crossing of the administrative border with the peninsula.

FSB also was inclining him to confidential cooperation aiming to obtain the information on the functioning of combat duty units of the State Border Guard Service.

Having “squeezed” and recorded the confession, Russians transferred the Ukrainian serviceman to checkpoint “Kalanchak”. The SBU checked the circumstances of his illegal detention and contacts with Russian FSB.

The Security Service of Ukraine recommends to refrain from traveling to Russia and temporarily occupied territories, and reminds that in accordance with Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, a citizen of Ukraine shall be discharged from criminal liability where, he has not committed any acts requested by a foreign state, a foreign organization or their representatives and voluntarily reported his ties with them and the task given to government authorities.
