SBU documented large-scale misappropriation of public funds, allocated for construction projects, by the officials of the Regional State Administration of Lviv region.

Allegedly, the Head of a Department of the Regional State Administration, on prior conspiracy with the subordinates, set up a scheme of misappropriation of public funds, allocated for capital construction in Lviv region. The officials engaged into the illegal activity managers and owners of contracting companies. The involved contractors forged documents by entering false data about amount and cost of work. Before entering, the contractors agreed the false data with the officials. Later the public funds were embezzled by the members of the scheme.

Within the initiated by the SBU criminal proceedings, a range of experts are currently estimating budget funds losses. As of now, according to preliminary estimates, the regional budget suffered over UAH 1,3 million (USD 45,000) losses resulting from one of the construction projects only. The managers and owners of the contracting company were served notices of suspicion of committing crimes stipulated by P. 2, 3 Art. 27, P. 3, 4 Art. 191 and P. 2 Art. 28, P. 1 Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of serving notices of suspicion to the officials of the Regional State Administration, who unexpectedly took a sick leave, is being settled.

The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the case and to bring to justice all the persons involved into the illegal activity.
