Kyiv region: Military SBU CI reveals large-scale underground production and sale of poor-quality disinfectants, particularly to Ministry of Defense structures
The SBU Military CI under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office found in Kyiv region large-scale manufacture and sale of low-quality and hazardous to health antiseptics, including for the Armed Forces of Ukraine needs.
SBU operatives established that a businessman set up illegal manufacture of antiseptic agents in the territory of Kyiv region. Some of them were sold through a number of controlled commercial structures of the military unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the state enterprise of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers documented that the offenders produced counterfeit antiseptics using raw materials of dubious origin without any permission documents and quality control.
During the authorized searches in the clandestine workshops, SBU officers found equipment for manufacturing and bottling of counterfeit antiseptic solution, more than 13 tons of alcohol mixture, in particular ethyl alcohol, antifreeze and glycerin. Labels, plastic containers, two seals, an antiseptic solution and almost 30 tons of fuel and lubricants of unknown origin were found as well.
Within the framework of the criminal proceedings under Art.204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the examination of the counterfeit goods is ongoing to identify the source of origin of excisable goods and all persons involved in the fraud.
We remind you that according to Art.204 Of the Criminal Code of Ukraine illegal manufacture of ethanol, alcohol distillates, alcoholic beverages, beer, tobacco goods, industrial substitutes of tobacco, fuel or other excise goods, resulting in poisoning or causing the death of a person, is punishable for 8 to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property, with the removal and destruction of illegally produced or acquired products, as well as equipment for its manufacture.
