Kirovohrad region: SBU serves a notice of suspicion to corrupt police colonel
The Security Service of Ukraine exposed a corrupt deputy chief of a district unit of the Main Directorate of National Police in Kirovohrad region.
Allegedly, the police colonel demanded bribe from a resident of one of the district centers of the region. The official promised to arrange forging of the certificate of training for obtaining additional driving categories with inter-district examination department.
The policeman was detained at his workplace when he received the final part of the bribe.
During the searches at his cabinet, the law enforcement found USD 56,000 and EUR 7,500 allegedly obtained illegally.
Within of framework of criminal proceeding, the detainee is served a notice of suspicion of the crime under Part 3 Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a type of detention for him is being decided.
The investigative actions to establish and bring to criminal responsibility other possibly involved officials are ongoing.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Territorial Department of State Bureau of Investigations in Mykolaiv, the Internal Security Department of National Police under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Kirovohrad region.
