The Security Service of Ukraine blocked illicit production and sale of law-quality counterfeited disinfectant to healthcare establishments.

SBU officers established, that several local entrepreneurs organized production of counterfeited disinfectant on the outskirts of Sumy city on the territory of private enterprise belonging to one of them

The suspects produced the disinfectant under improvised brand mark in obsolete technique conditions with dubious raw materials without any official permits. The product was sold to clients through internet as well as to medical establishments of Sumy region.

During the investigative actions at the place of manufacturing of the product, law enforcement seized circa 600 liters of ready-for-sale liquid, about 500 liters of alcohol of undetermined origin, chemicals, empty bottles and production equipment.

According to preliminary estimates, the seized products and equipment costs almost UAH 1,000,000 (USD 37,000).

The investigative actions are ongoing within the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Article 227 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Medical establishments that purchased counterfeit antiseptics are being established to remove counterfeit and determine the amount of damage caused to the state budget in result of the purchases.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Office in Sumy region jointly with the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of National Police under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Sumy region.
