Head of state enterprise is suspected of extortion for “assistance” in obtaining license
SBU exposed in Kyiv the acting head of a state enterprise, involved in obtaining unlawful benefit.
Allegedly, the official extorted UAH 600,000 (USD 20,000) from a businessman. For the sum of money, the suspect “guaranteed” his assistance in obtaining license for disposal of hazardous industrial waste. The suspect promised to settle the issue through his contacts with top-officials of the former Ministry of Ecology and Natural resources.
SBU employees documented the fact of receiving the full amount of the unlawful benefit by the head of the state enterprise.
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion of P. 2 Art. 190, P. 2 Art. 15, P. 3 Art. 190, P. 2 Art. 15, P. 4 Art. 27 and P. 3 Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and custody was chosen as a form of detention.
As of now, the indictment was submitted to court.
The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate of Economic Counter-Intelligence Protection of the State's Interests jointly with the Main Investigation Directorate of the National Police, under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
