The Security Service of Ukraine exposed the head of the structural unit of the Department of City Planning and Architecture of Rivne City Council on bribe taking.

Allegedly, the head of the department of general plan and development of the city demanded USD 2,500 from a local private businessman for registration of the project documentation on reconstruction of office premises. Thus, the official promised to influence his colleagues in order to solve the issue without any problems.

The offender was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine jointly with the Department of City Planning and Architecture after receiving the final part of the bribe in the amount of USD 1,100.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the issue of serving the detainee suspicion notice and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved. Currently, law enforcement officers carry out searches in Rivne City Council, the Department of City Planning and Architecture, the Department of State Architectural and Construction Control, the project organization, as well as at the suspect’s place of residence.
