SBU reveals head of military hospital extorting money from candidate of service

SBU exposed the head of the military hospital on systematic bribes in Donetsk region.

According to preliminary investigation, the official demanded money from a candidate of service in one of the military units allocated in the JFO area. For USD 1,500, the attacker promised not to prevent him from receiving a contract for military service.

Additionally, SBU operatives documented the fact of USD 500 extortion by the head of the hospital from his subordinate for not creating artificial obstacles in the line of duty.

The victims had to transfer money through a sergeant of the military medical facility.

Law enforcement officers detained the mediator in accordance with Art.208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on receiving part of the bribes.

The issue of serving the head of the hospital a notice of suspicion of obtaining improper benefit and its extortion (Part 3 Art.368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and choosing a form of detention are being decided.

In the framework of open criminal proceedings, urgent investigative actions to establish other alleged facts of the illegal activity are ongoing.

The operation was carried out jointly with the SBU Military CI under the procedural supervision of the Military Prosecutor's Office.
