SBU exposed on systematic bribe-taking the former Head of the Main Directorate of the State Geo-Cadastre in Luhansk region, head of the Division of land management and protection of the regional State Geo-Cadastre and a specialist in land management of a municipal enterprise of Sievierodonetsk city council.

SBU established that the officials extorted money from certified specialists in land management. For the unlawful benefit, the officials promised to the certified specialists not to impede with legal registration of documents in the State Geo-Cadastre.

The businessmen transferred money into the bank account of the specialist in land management. The “fee” of the officials depended on type of the documents.

SBU employees documented 16 facts of extortion and receiving of money by the suspects, with the total sum of bribes amounting to UAH 100,000 (USD 3,700).  

The officials were served notices of suspicion of taking a bribe (P. 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police, under the supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
