Chernihiv and Rivne regions: SBU uncovers cache with military ammunition and its illegal sale

Previously convicted resident of Rivne region arranged a cache with military munitions in an uninhabited house in the wood line of the Hoshchanskyi dictrict. Allegedly, the suspect attempted at arranging sale of the weapons via criminal contacts.

The law enforcement seized a RPG-22 grenade launcher, over 600 grams of TNT, two RGD-5 and VOG-25P grenades, electric fuses and a mine detonator, sawed-off Mosin system rifle and 420 rounds of different caliber.

The seized munitions are sent for expertize.

The issue of serving the suspect a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and choosing for him custody as a type of detention are being solved.

The investigation to identify all the circumstances of the crime and other involved is ongoing.

Information on the illegal supply of seized weapons from the area of ​​the JFO area is being checked.

The operation was conducted jointly with police under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.

Former chief of ammunition depot of one of the military units in Chernihiv region attempted at organizing sale of ammunition illegally taken from the JFO area. The suspect used personal contacts looking for customers.

The SBU officers documented that the suspect sold rounds of 7,62 mm caliber.

The officers detained him on the territory of the military unit when he attempted at selling over 300 rounds of automatic firearms.

The seized ammunition is sent for expertize.

The issue of serving the suspect a notice of suspicion and choosing for him type of detention is being decided. The investigation is ongoing within the framework of criminal proceeding under Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the involvement of other servicemen is being checked.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police investigators under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Chernihiv region.
