The Security Service of Ukraine prevented in Donetsk region the sale of counterfeit excisable goods of dubious quality. The seized counterfeit products were estimated to UAH 1,500,000 (USD 57,693).

Allegedly, two representatives of the local commercial structure set up illicit business. They purchased counterfeit alcohol and cigarettes from their associates at clandestine production sites in Dnipropetrovsk and Volyn regions. Moreover, the dealers received the ordered goods by means of familiar postal service for further sale via retail outlets.

During searches at postal warehouses in Pokrovsk city, law enforcement officers found a thousand liters of surrogate in plastic bottles and more than 20,000 packs of cigarettes with or without fake excise duty stamps.

In the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated under the fact of illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of selling excisable goods (Part 1 Art.204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the investigative actions on bringing to justice all involved persons are underway.

The exposing operation was conducted jointly with the Main Department of the State Fiscal Service in Donetsk region under the legal supervision of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
