SBU exposed in Zakarpattya region the head of corruption prevention sector of the Main Department of the State Fiscal Service on bribery.

Allegedly, the main anti-corruption official of the region demanded USD 2,000 from the owner of a local construction company. For this sum, he promised to exclude the entrepreneur from administrative liability for concealing the actual income from business and for undercutting amounts in the tax return.

According to Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine the official was detained in Uzhhorod while receiving the first part of the bribe. The criminal proceedings were initiated upon the fact of committing the crime under Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Currently, searches at the detainee’s place of work and residence are ongoing in order to establish other facts of malversation.

The exposing operation was conducted jointly with the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Lviv city, the Main Department of the State Fiscal Service in Zakarpattya region under the legal supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
