Donetsk region: SBU exposes illegal sale of diesel oil through underground petrol stations

The Security Service of Ukraine documented illegal sale of wholesale batches of poor quality oil. The fraud brought about UAH 2,000,000 (USD 74,000) losses to the state.

Allegedly, the scheme was set up by a businessman from Donetsk region. He arranged two underground petrol stations without any licenses and official permits. Diesel oil was stored in big plastic cans with violations of the established safety standards.

The investigation indicates that illegal petrol stations have been operating for several months selling up to 20 tones of oil per month.

During the investigative actions at the warehouse and suspect’s place of residence, law enforcement found 8 tones of diesel oil.

The issue of arresting the seized oil and conducting the expertise is being decided.

The investigation is ongoing within the framework of criminal proceeding under Part 2 Article 364, Part 1 Article 204 and Part 1 Article 272 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the the Prosecutor's Office of the Donetsk region.
