SBU exposes corrupt deputy chief of Kharkiv district court

The Security Service of Ukraine exposed the deputy chief of the Kharkiv district court on corruption.

Allegedly, the suspect planned get USD 4,000 from the person involved in criminal case. The accused had to pay this amount for the return of USD 30,000 confiscated during the search. At the same time, there were no preconditions for refusal, as the funds were not the subject of a crime and did not contain evidence of criminal activity.

The judge was exposed at her office immediately after receiving the full amount of the bribe.

The investigation is ongoing within the criminal proceeding under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The issue of serving the judge notice of suspicion is being decided.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
