SBU investigators serve suspicion notices another two representatives of Russian special services

SBU Main Investigative Department carries out a pre-trial investigation into the incitement of Ukrainian citizens to commit high treason by personnel of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and FSB.

Within the framework of the initiated criminal proceedings, SBU found that in July 2019, an officer of the 3rd operational staff of the 316th Intelligence Center of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces incited a Ukrainian citizen to commit treason against the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of the state. Additionally, the Russian intelligence agent acted by prior collusion with a former employee of the SBU Main Directorate in the AR of Crimea, who after the annexation of the peninsula betrayed the military oath and joined the Russian FSB.

The Russian special services planned to receive from Ukraine assistance in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine, in particular via collection and transmission of military information on the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As a result, two representatives of the Russian special services were suspected of committing the crime stipulated by Part 2 Art. 27, Part 2 Art. 28, Part 1 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Procedural guidance in criminal proceedings is provided by the Office of the Prosecutor General, and operational support is provided by the SBU Counterintelligence Department.

We remind that this week SBU investigators served a notice of suspicion of another Russian intelligence officer who induced the deputy head of the Protocol of the Prime Minister of Ukraine to high treason.
