Luhansk region: SBU suspects corrupt State Geo-Cadastre management

The Security Service of Ukraine served notice of suspicion of corruption to a group of several current and former officials of the Main Department of the State Geo-Cadastre in Luhansk region. The Security Service of Ukraine has documented 16 cases of corruption.

Allegedly, the group included the already dismissed head of the regional department of the State Geo-Cadastre, the head of the Department of land management and development and a land management engineer of the utility company of the Severodonetsk City Council. It was established, that the conspirators demanded bribes from private companies and certified surveyors for unimpeded registration of land documents. Businessmen had to transfer the money to the bank account of the land surveyor. The cost of "services" depended on the complexity of the work and the type of documentation. 

The organizer of the group and chief of the Department of land management are served notices of suspicion of the crime under Part 3 Article 28 and Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. All the involved in the scheme are removed from the office.

The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of the region.
