SBU exposed violations by JSC "Ukrgazvydobuvannya" of environmental standards during the disposal of hazardous waste, that could have threatened lives the people of Poltava region.

The operatives of the special service established that the employees of the commercial structure, in coordination with the representatives of Ukrgazvydobuvannya, "earned" on the utilization of drilling mud. Officials of the State Ecologicl Inspection did not react to violations of environmental regulations.

According to the investigation, the actual utilization of drilling waste was not carried out at all. During the temporary storage, the necessary environmental requirements were ignored, which could lead to environmental pollution. During the removal of drilling mud, the organizers replaced the accompanying documents. Therefore, it was unloaded on the waste disposal site  under the guise of a safe "mixture of minerals". According to preliminary estimates, the malefactors caused millions of losses to the state. According to the results of laboratory tests of selected samples of mud, which was conducted by a specialized research institution, it was found that these drilling wastes are especially hazardous and require a special procedure for disposal and utilization. Due to the prompt intervention of the SBU officers, the company corrected the violation of environmental requirements.

In the course of investigative actions under Art. 236, Part 2 Art. 364, Part 4 Art. 190, Part 3 Art. 369, Part 1 Art. 368, Part 1 Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the law enforcement obtained documentary data, confirming illegal activities. Representatives of the commercial structure: the organizer and executor of the illegal scheme, as well as a representative of JSC "Ukrgazvydobuvannya" were served suspicion notices. A personal recognisance was chosen as a type of prevention. It is planned to serve other participants of the proceedings suspicion notices shortly. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Measures to detect illegal activities was conducted in conjunction with the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigations in Kyiv city  under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
