Dnipropetrovsk region: SBU exposes criminal group under supervision of city police unit head
The Security Service of Ukraine stopped the illegal activities of a criminal group under the supervision of the head of one of the city units of the National Police of Dnipropetrovsk region.
According to the investigation, the head of the police unit together with his subordinates decided to artificially increase the indicators of operative search activity. To do this, they falsified the materials of criminal proceedings. The malefactors, in particular, intimidated and tortured the suspects in order to obtain the "necessary" evidence, fabricated artificial evidence for further detection and rapid investigation of non-existent crimes.
During more than 20 searches, special services employees seized materials of falsified criminal proceedings, devices of tortures and other evidence confirming the criminal activities of police officers.
Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 Art. 255, Part 2 Art. 365, Part 4 Art. 27 Part 2 Art. 185, Part 1 Art. 263 and Part 2 Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the law enforcement detained 7 group members, including the head of Pavlohrad police unit. Currently, all participants of the illegal activity are being identified and the issue of choosing a type of detention for the detained law enforcement officers is being resolved.
Urgent investigative actions are ongoing. The detection of criminal activity was carried out in coordination with the Main Department for Fighting Corruption and Organised Crime and the Main Department of Internal Security of the Security Service of Ukraine together with the State Bureau of Investigations officers under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv region.
