The Security Service of Ukraine blocked the smuggling of components to Russian-made tank ammunition.

Allegedly, four internally displaced persons from Luhansk region set up illegal schemes. At the enterprises of the Russian defense-industrial complex suspects purchased components for military equipment and through a number of controlled non-resident companies imported them into Ukraine as scrap metal. Imports took place without obtaining the statutory permits and approvals of the State Expert Control Service.

In Ukraine, the components were transported to one of the cities of Luhansk region, processed at their own production facilities and returned to the defense enterprises of the aggressor country.

The other day, law enforcement officers blocked an attempt to smuggle Russian military components into Ukraine for more than UAH 2,500,000 (USD 93,000) in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Law enforcement carried out searches in the offices of companies controlled by suspects in Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Luhansk regions, as well as at their places of residence and vehicles.

Digital and computer equipment, accounting reports of importing companies, statutory documents and seals of non-resident companies, as well as other evidence confirming illegal activities were seized.

The investigation is ongoing within the proceedings initiated under Art. 201 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

All circumstances of the case and cooperation of suspects with the enterprises of military-industrial complex of Russia and pro-Russian terrorists in Donbas are being established.

The operation was conducted jointly with investigators of the National Police under the supervision of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
