Former Ukrzaliznytsia top-managers accused of illegal granite mining worth over USD 31,5 million
SBU materials helped to serve notices of suspicion to former top-managers of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC, who are accused of illegal granite mining in the company’s quarry.
SBU operatives documented that the officials set up illegal mining of mineral resources during 2017-2018 in Zhytomyr region. Allegedly, the mining was carried out without any official permits.
The perpetrators managed to mine 340,000 cubic metres of granite in total. The mineral resources were sold to private companies. According to the experts, such illegal actions resulted in budget losses of more than UAH 850 million (USD 31,5 million).
The former chief of Ukrainian Railways branch was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the former Head of Penizevytskyi quarry was served a notice of suspicion under Part 4 Art. 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The indictments are sent to the court.
The operation was conducted jointly with the police investigators under the supervision of the General Prosecutor's Office.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
