The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed the director of the contractor company, involved into budget funds misappropriation during the reconstruction of Cathedral Square in Pavlohrad city.

According to the investigation, at the end of 2019, one of the business entities of Nikopol won the tender for the overhaul of the Central City Square of Pavlohrad city. The total amount of planned works was over UAH 17.5 million.

Last January officials of one of the departments of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration terminated the contract with the winning company. The operatives of the special service established that the company's representatives, in particular, violated the established terms of repair works and did not complete them in full. At the same time, almost UAH 6 million were transferred to contractors from the regional budget. According to preliminary data of the pre-trial investigation, the amount of damages is over UAH 2.5 million. Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 5 Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the director of the contractor company is served suspicion notice. The issue of choosing the form of detention is being decided.

Investigative actions are ongoing in order to establish other people  involved in illegal activity and circumstances of the crime.  The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Pavlohrad local Prosecutor’s Office.
