SBU blocks drug trafficking with a million turnover in Zaporizzhia city
SBU officers blocked the activities of a group of drug dealers who were engaged in the sale of "synthetics" in the region.
According to pretrial investigation the gang consisted of 7 regional center residents, including those previously convicted for the similar crimes. Wholesale consignments of methamphetamine were ordered from suppliers via the Internet. The offenders stored and prepared "goods" for resale in the apartment of the organizer of the group. They sold psychotropic substances through an extensive network of dealers. According to intelligence, monthly offenders sold up to 2 kilograms of methamphetamine amounting to UAH 2 million at shadow rates.
The organizer of the group was detained by the law enforcement at the bus station in the regional center during a meeting with another client, in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine. During 7 simultaneous searches at residences, cars and garages of drug dealers almost 300 grams of psychotropic substance, 1 kg of cannabis, precursors, packing equipment, bank cards, draft records with data on customers and drug traffic, and other evidence of the illegal activity of the group were seized.
Within the framework of a criminal proceeding initiated under Part 3 Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the issue of serving to detainee notice of suspicion and choosing measures of restraint is being solved. The investigative actions on bringing to responsibility other persons involved in the illegal activities are under way. Measures to expose drug trafficking were conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Zaporizzhia region.
