SBU officers uncovered in Kharkiv city an attempt to sell a counterfeit of one of the well-known domestic distributors of alcohol. A batch of counterfeit worth UAH 2.5 million was seized from the supplier.

According to the pre-trial investigation, the deal was organized by the management of the regional branch of the company, which supplies alcoholic beverages throughout Ukraine. It was established that simultaneously with the sale of legal products, the offenders planned to sell goods of unknown origin with counterfeit excise stamps. The sale of excisable products was to take place by improper means and with the use of false accompanying documents. They planned to sell vodka to their regular customers - in retail chains and catering establishments of the region.

During searches at a rented warehouse in Kharkiv city, law enforcement officers seized more than 30,000 bottles of ready for sale counterfeit. Currently, the entire batch of counterfeit has been seized for the relevant examinations.

Within the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the investigative actions are ongoing. All the circumstances of the case, the persons involved in the illegal activity and the sources of the counterfeit origin are being established.

Detection and termination of illegal transactions were carried out jointly with investigators of the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office.
