Kherson region: SBU exposes LNR militant working in state authorities (video)
The SBU exposed and detained a former employee of the so-called "MDB LNR special service". He moved to Ukraine-controlled territory via Russian border and got a job in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
During the pre-trial investigation, SBU investigators established that the offender illegally held the position of administrator in a ministerial territorial service center in Kherson region. He submitted forged documents while applying for a job. According to intelligence, he had an opportunity to transfer information from private databases to militants.
Law enforcement found that during 2015-2016 the man was "an operative officer of MDB LNR". In particular, he recruited citizens on both sides of the contact line and intimidated the pro-Ukrainian population.
The SBU detained him in a residential area of Nova Kakhovka city. During authorized searches of offender’s residence and office, SBU operatives found documents that will be added to the evidence base. Two TNT grenades with electric detonators were also seized.
The offender is currently suspected of:
- encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine;
- creation of paramilitary or armed formations not provided by law;
- illegal handling of explosives.
Custody was chosen as a type of detention.
Urgent investigative and operational actions are underway under the supervision of Luhansk Region Prosecutor's Office.
